Federal Reserve’s Small Business Credit Survey
Small Business Credit Survey
The Office of the Comptroller of Maryland invites small business owners to respond to the Federal Reserve’s Small Business Credit Survey. The Federal Reserve Bank’s 2026 small business credit survey is now open, completely anonymous, and helps inform government agencies, service providers, and policymakers about small businesses’ performance, challenges, credit experiences, and issues across industries and regions. The survey closes November 13, 2026.
The Federal Reserve’s Small Business Credit Survey is an annual national survey conducted by all 12 Federal Reserve Banks to track the economic conditions, financing needs, and credit-seeking experiences of firms with fewer than 500 employees. The survey originally began as a regional pilot project by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in 2010 and expanded into a joint multi-district collaboration in 2014. The SBCS was first administered as a national survey in 2016 in collaboration with all 12 Reserve Banks and continues to be conducted annually. The Federal Reserve does not share respondent information with other entities, including government agencies.
Our office is a proud partner in this nationwide effort because we believe that the more small businesses are heard, the better they can be served. For more information, please visit Fed Small Business Frequently Asked Questions.
The Federal Reserve’s Small Business Credit 12-minute survey is open to businesses currently in operation, those recently closed, and those about to launch. All responses are confidential.
